hello,
I'm very much curious about the second world war in the levant. the actions, the equipment that were used and the forces involved. Especially, I'd like to learn about the war in aegean. is there someone who can grant me an introduction ?

About egean, a timeline:
September 1939-May 1940: Nothing
June-October 1940: Italian Egean island are used as base for air strikes against british facilities in middle east and for provoking actions against Greece
November 1940-April 1941: With greek entry in war, italian egean is divided from homeland. Italian efforts towards east Med are destroyed. A british attack is rejected in february. italian special forces attack against Crete
May-June 1941: Battle for Crete involving german, italian, british and commonwealth forces. Hard british losses
July 1941-August 1943: Egean routes for North Africa. British Commando actions agaisnt egean islands
September-November 1943: After italian armistice an hard battle develops between anglo-italian and german forces for egean control. German victory: german garrisons established in egean islands
December 1943-Fall 1944: nothing to be told
Fall 1944-Spring 1945: with german withdrawals from balkans, egean garrisons are left on their own. After a hard hungry winter, they surrender in a almost quiet way to anglo-greek forces in april-may 1945
