I thought all the photos were excellent. Does anyone have any color photos? I would like to see a color photo of
SS Obergruppenfuhrer Artur Phleps. Does anyone have one to share?

There are not too many photos in colour from Balkan.
I got some pics of Serbian četnik leader djeneral Dragoljub Mihailović
(and those were taken by British officers), or for "Signal" propaganda - some Croatian WL Legion.
I don't think you are going to find Phleps in colour.
Photos in colour were not very common in Yugoslavia in those days.

Color Photos of SS Leaders

Post by anselmo1 » 18 Apr 2005 15:25

I posted the color photo of Degrelle to indicate how wonderful color photos are of the various SS officers of World War II as compared to black & white photos. It would be nice if there was a color photo of SS Obergruppenfuhrer Phleps so it could be shared with all.

Here's a photo of SS-Obersturmbannführer Alfred Graaf,
which led "Skanderbeg" men as part of this division.

Marc Rikmenspoel wrote:In the picture of von Oberkamp with von Scholz, I believe that Hilmar Wäckerle is at right. These were the three infantry regimental commanders of Wiking at the start of Barbarossa. Von Oberkamp commanded Germania, von Scholz commanded Nordland, and Wäckerle commanded Westland. A few days into the campaign, Wäckerle was killed in action, and was replaced by...Artur Phleps!

Edited to add that in the photo just above this one, it may be Phleps in the overcoat, but I'm fairly certain that Schmidhuber is at right.
I am sorry Marc, but that to the right isn´t H Wäckerle, I have the guys name somewhere but isn´t Wäckerle
