Status of operational tanks of Army Group Center in the period of August 1941

Post by curiousone » 21 Sep 2022 12:59

Hello,

I managed to collect data on operational tanks of Army Group Center in the first decade of September 1941 using Jentz and Hillebrand as a source. Now, I am trying to collect data on combat readiness of 2. Panzer Group and 3. Panzer Group over the course of August (preferably at the beginning, middle and end of the month; as for the last category, I have data on two panzer divisions of AGC in this period from Jentz's book). I suspect that work with archival documents will be needed, but I would be grateful for any hints and pieces of information!

Greetings!

Okay, so my finding is that around 22nd of August both 2nd and 3rd Panzer Groups had 903 operational tanks. On 2nd of October (Operation Typhoon started) according to Stahel, they fielded 755 combat-ready tanks ((Guderian's Group - 405 (with 149 replacement tanks) and Hoth's Group - c. 350)).
