Irish civilians in wartime France

Post by Viktor.S » 15 Apr 2020 11:17

Hello everyone,

For anyone who might be interested, an article discussing the lives of neutral Irish civilians in wartime France: ... ccupation/

It's interesting to see Irish involvement on both sides of the table, as well as the bulk who remained apolitical but struggled between the choice of accepting British Commonwealth support (and thus face internment) or remain with only their Irish passports and face the comparatively limited support from their own government.

There is a book published by the author of this article on the subject, titled No Way Out: The Irish in Wartime France, 1939-1945.
