Germans in Finnland
Hello! I'm trying to find details on Germans activity/whom stayed in a small town i'm living in. I only know that they "lived" here since 1941. Also a town near me had a Ammo Depot which they blew up during their retreat in 1944.

The German 20th Mountain Army was located in northern Finland. I see that Tervola was located by the Kemi - Rovaniemi railway and Loue is a village north of Tervola. There was a railway station at Tervola, that was destroyed in the Lapland War. I think the best way to find more information would be to contact local historians.

There is a good book about the German troops in Rovaniemi.

Re: Germans in Finnland
Thank you for the info. I've read that German soldiers stayed in Tervola and Loue during their time off front. But i'd guess it would be impossible tell if they were part of the 6th SS Division or Gebirgsjägers from the divisions/regiments. And probably impossible to find photos of them in the locations.Seppo Koivisto wrote: ↑24 Sep 2022 10:18The German 20th Mountain Army was located in northern Finland.
