Axis garrison in Tunis?
Does anyone know what units the Axis had in the city of Tunis in 1942-1943 after Operation Torch?

This might be a good starting point:

. . . only small issue, but picture 1, 4, 8, 10, 12 shows a French AMX-13 Tank,
designed & built after the II.WW, and not British Tanks.

Re: Axis garrison in Tunis?
Here is a little addition. It appears to be a scrap or training area for the Tunisian armed forces. The AMX 13 tank
was also used in this North African country. The impacts in the steel plates look like shaped by HEAT projectiles
(hollow charge or shaped charge warhead / Hohlladung) from a bazooka or `Panzerfaust´; - for practice purposes?
A different type of armor piercing ammunition would have left a different type of perforation; - Anyway.

(Sorry, Admiral Bloonbeard, I get off the topic; but one should try to correct incorrect information on the net)

Re: Axis garrison in Tunis?
Thanks Holger,
yes, that is a pity, are you aware of a similar good website about the Afrikakorps, in German or English?
The father of a childhood friend, Herr Arno Kache was a member of the Afrika Korps, as children we always played with the pith helmet of the father, long ago...
The father of a later motorcycle friend, also a member of the Afrika Korps, became an English prisoner of war in North Africa.
The men there were probably fed a "diet" of mainly watermelons, about which the father is said to have often spoken. A man almost two meters tall, he returned home from captivity with a body weight of just over 50 kilograms.
