There was a book about Matthaus Hetzenauer that came in print months ago. Anybody heard about it? I think the author's name was Rolf Michaelis.

On page 32 of the book "The German Sniper Badge,1944-1945" by Rolf Michaelis,there is a mention about Corporal Hans Gruber. It says,"Sniper Corporal Gruber is the only sniper in the company. He has stood our through outstanding bravery,constant readiness to serve and aggressive fightin;g spirit. On March 23,1945 he scred his 102nd kill." On April 28,1945 he was awarded the German Cross in Gold. Do you know what German unit that Gruber was in and that he survived WWII?

Unteroffizier BUHLER, 547. Volks-Grenadier-Division
Unteroffizier ROSCHORREK, 561. Volk-Grenadier-Division

Both had over 100 sniper kills.

Only a few German snipers would be awarded the German Cross in Gold for having over 100 sniper kills.

I believe that Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine ground troops who were trained snipers could also win the sniper badge.

Even though some of the marksmen qualified as "snipers" (modern terminology), such as Hetzenauer, one should still be skeptical about the figures, just as in the case of tank crews.

Anybody heard about this German sniper named Jakob Hechl who had 121 sniper kills to his credit. He is from 3./Gebirgsjager-Regiment 91,4.Gebirgs-Division.

Sorry for jumping in, but I've owned this Sharpshooter/Possible Sniper document for a long time, I snatched it up as I've never seen one, moreless from 2/SS Germaina. Sorry for the out of focus shot but it's all I have on file and not heading to storage to pull it right for a bit. I haven't pulled it out in 10+ yrs. The other items as noted I moved long ago but kept this large format document. Does anyone have any info on this SS man or the document itself?
To be honest I don't even know what it says anymore, any info would be great. Also you can pm me as to what's it might be worth as the day is near for a new home.

Question Range?
if this was a Range document these would be all over the place, you'd see one in every collection as everyone went to the Range. I don't believe this is a Range document sorry to say or at least a normal range doc. I still haven't seen another, I'm open to be enlightened tho. Does anyone know the soldier or person who signed it, the autograph should be traceable for 1938, 2/SS Germania.

Posting this forced me to go back into storage and pull it out for the first time in years. So not trying to make something it's not, but I'd like to see if anyone has another one please.
I believe it might've been from a competition for a sharpshooter. But again I haven't seen another one.

I'm pretty sure I picked this up from Detlev Niemann when he had a website many many yrs ago he listed new items every Friday, I remember I was pretty excited that I was able to snatch it as all his items sold as fast as he listed. If anyone has his contact info please post or pass along as I'm sure that's where I picked this. He should have records.
Again not trying to make this document into something it's not, but I believe this is a rare document, not issued to everyone or randomly. I'll wait another 10+yrs to see if anything arises with proof of what/why it was issued if needed Unless someone really needs it in their collection then hit me up.
