Sultans Mehmed V and Mehmed VI

Post by AJK » 28 Jun 2020 03:18

I have read that Sultan Mehmed V was awarded an honorary rank of Generalfeldmarschall in the Prussian Army on 27 January 1916, and in the German Empire on 1 February 1916. Can someone please confirm this, and also provide his Ottoman Army ranks and dates of promotion?

Did Sultan Mehmed VI also receive an honorary rank of Generalfeldmarschall? If so, on what date (likely after becoming Sultan on 4 July 1918)?

Thanks,

AJK

The Wikipedia article about Mehmed VI (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehmed_VI) doesn't mention any military awards. Maybe World War I was almost drawing to a close so fast that there wasn't enough time for Mehmed VI to receive any awards. Who knows.
