If of interest, the names are places/towns in the Ottoman empire. One in present day Greece, one in Iraq and two in Turkey. A bit more https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duranda ... _destroyer

03.12.1915: 12.30h torpedoed by British submarine E 11 west of Darıca near Yelkenkaya Burnu (Quadrat 221), torpedo hit the vessel close to the second funnel near the engine room, ship broke in two, aft part sank within 2 minutes and the front part within a further 3 minutes, German commander ObLt. z.S. d.R. Raydt and 8 German crew members and second Osmanlı officer and 27 Ottoman crew members lost, survivors were rescued by E 11 and delivered to a nearby Osmanlı sailing vessel which brought them to the Osmanlı Naval School at Heybeliada 04.12.1915: rescued crew arrived on board of the Osmanlı destroyer BASRA at İstanbul

The informations are from the original report of the leader of the Ottoman Torpedoboat-Flottilla Kpt.Lt Adolf Pfeiffer to the German Mittelmeer-Divison at 04.12.1915 which is in my archive. From this report it seems that 28 Ottoman crew members were lost. It is also interesting to notice that it seems that Raydt, Annes, Wichert and Czemper were able to leave the ship before sinking, but drowned before being rescued. Annes and Czemper were non-swimmers.

These are the original German Navy units were those sailors were commanded before they were attached to the Ottoman Navy. So they were never formally included to Ottoman Navy, but were still enlisted within their German home units:

I. Torp-Div. 1. Abtl. 2. Komp = I. Torpedo-Divison 1. Abteilung 2. Kompanie = I. Torpedo-Division 1. Detachement 2. Squadron

II. Torp-Div 4. Abtl. 8. Komp = II. Torpedo-Divison 4. Abteilung 8. Kompanie = II. Torpedo-Division 4. Detachement 8. Squadron

I. Werft-Div 1. Abtl. = I. Werft-Divison 1. Abteilung = I. Shipyard-Divison 1. Detachement

FT-ObGast = Funkentelegrafie-Ober-Gast = Radio-Telegrafie-Lance Seaman

Einj. Freiw. FT-Gast = Einjährig Freiwilliger Funkentelegrafie-Gast = One Year Volunteer Radio-Telegrafie-Seaman

Sometimes it is difficult to translate those German ranks into foreign language, because sometimes they are very special to a specifc country, but I hope you can understand them now a bit better.

Regards,
Jochen
