Unknown Sleeve Insignia?

Hello all!

I've found what appears to be colonial insignia in use on the Western Front?

It's for a Vizefeldwebel, but as far as I'm aware this type of insignia was never used anywhere outside of Africa.

Any help would be appreciated,
