Hi Aleaxander,

the Militär-Roßarztschule/Militär-Veterinär-Akademie was located at the then Karlstraße 23a (now Reinhardtstraße) directly North of the present day Friedrichstraße railway and S-Bahn station. It was destroyed in WW2.

Regards
Glenn

Alexander,

the Lehrschmiede was co-located with the Roßarztschule. Here is a plan from Fontaine's history of the Heeres Veterinärwesen. The actual Roßartzschule (accommodation block) is at the top of the plan.

The building's entry in G. Michael Dürre's "Die Steinerne Garnison - Berlins Militärbauten" gives the following details regarding the school and the instructional smithy:

Construction period - 1868-1871

The school was a four storey barracks building of 85m in length for the accommodation of 156 Roßarzteleven, 64 shoeing students and had additionally, several service accommodation rooms. In addition there was a single story house for the Korpsroßarzt, 2 stables for 30 horses, a forage store and other facilities. The actual instructional smithy was 41.6m long, 17.2 m wide and equipped with 10 forges and 20 stoves.

Regards
Glenn
