Hello to all :D; more......................................

Albert Theodor Otto Emmich (from 1913 von Emmich) (* August 4, 1848, † December 22, 1915).

The 2nd Army, commanded by Field Marshal Karl von Bulow, was commissioned to take the city of Liege, located at the entrance to Belgium from Germany. Six brigades, commanded by General Otto von Emmich, were detached from the 2nd Army to form a special "Army of the Meuse" that would open the way for the rest of their comrades through Liege. The city finally fell to the Germans on August 15.

After the fall of Liege, Emmich returned to command of an Army Corps and fought on the Marne and in trench warfare near Reims. In April 1915, Emmich was transferred to the Eastern Front, where he fought in the Gorlice-Tarnów offensive. Emmich was ennobled in 1913. He died of arteriosclerosis in Hannover. He was awarded the Pour le Mérite (August 7, 1914) together with Erich Ludendorff for the conquest of Liege.
