Regarding the Browing 12,7mm on page 4:
The Dutch bought in 1925 the first 24 machineguns as the .50 Armstrong Whitworth-Colt. So The firm Armstrong Whitworth made these under Colt licence and sold them to the Dutch navy to be placed on ships for the Dutch East-Indies but also for the Homeland navy. As more ships were build, every time additional MG were bought. At the beginning of the thirties approx 80 had been bought. In the Dutch Antilles some were also used on land. Starting of 1933 the representative of Armstrong Whitworth in the Netherlands, the Nederlandsch-Engelsche Technische Handel Maaschappij, told that Armstrong was not allowed (by Colt) to use the licence anymore because of the low salesnumbers (and the Dutch were the biggest customer by that). The FN firm in Belgium however got the licence and in april 1934 the Dutch placed the first order of 8 MG's. In total there were 292 of these MG's in active duty in may 1940.
