Crimean Campaign, 1941

Post by halfaya » 10 Mar 2023 17:25

Hello there, during the first stages of that campaign, Manstein decided to create a fast battlegroup under the command of Oberst Ziegler. As the 11.Armee had no panzer units, the KampfGruppe Ziegler was composed with the motorized units of the infantry divisions. Could anyone give me the composition of this KpfGr during its advance towards Simferopol and Sebastopol ?? Thx

When formed on 27 October 1941 the brigade Ziegler consisted of:

- 6 company/800 Regiment "Brandenburg"
- 1 company/70 Pioneer Battalion
- 737 Artillery Battalion w/o 1st battery
- Panzerjäger-Abteilung 560

Group von Boddin
- 22 Recce Battalion (of 22 German Infantry Division)
- 46 Pioneer Battalion
- one bycicle company from each recce battalion of the 46 and 73 Infantry Divisions
- 5 Battery/54 Artillery Regiment
- 18 Heavy Flak Battery
- 610 Fla Company
- one company from the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 150/50 Infantry Division
- StuG-Abt. 190 (190 assualt gun battalion)

So they had armor actually (German assault guns and APCs).
