The attached short article discusses the Wehrmacht’s use of a round bunker made from logs for personnel protection at some locations on the Eastern Front. The cover was apparently designed sometime in early period 1944.
This article is a translation of a German press article that apparently was printed in the 1944 summer time period. The translated article was printed in the January 1945 edition of the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.

Re: Wehrmacht Round Log Bunker For Personnel - Eastern Front 1944
Hmmm..............
Makes me wonder how many trees they could find with identical tree trunks and limbs of equal circumference and perfectly linear?
I hope the interior is lined with something to strengthen it and protect the inhabitants from wood and metal splinters produced bombs and artillery shells exploding closed by at or below ground level.
How is it effectively and safely heated in the winter?
Not a very good design, IMO.
