German seeking a "Prestige" Victory?

I always wondered why for years the Germans spent years of trying to destroy Leningrad {Petrograd} or Stalingrad {VOlgagrand} instead of try to capture Moscow....was it because they were "Prestige" Victures...Hitler whose aries had conquered...9 counties i Europe was seen to be the "Superios Man" those Military Genius..wwould destroy Cities that bore the anems of Lenin and Stalin.....???? :idea: :idea: :idea:

The Germans tried to capture Moscow and it didn't work. After that Moscow was too heavily defended to try that again.
