L-4 Piper Cub Bombs Panther - NWE 1945

The attached 5 January 1945 New York Times newspaper article describes an event during the Ardennes offensive in Luxembourg where an US Army artillery spotter Piper Cub bombed a Panther using an improvised fire bomb. The newspaper article was prepared using an Army press release and the event would have been confirmed by witnesses before the press release was authorized to be issued.

Attached is another short report from the Combat Notes report series that discusses another method by which a Piper Cub stopped a panzer attack. The report issue date was 7 September 1944.
