The Schwere PanzerjägerAbt. 653 in the area around Neustadt/Weinstrasse in early 1945

Post by harrysteen » 24 Aug 2021 18:32

During the retreat from the Western Front the Schwere Panzerjäger Abt. 653 had quite some losses in the Pfalz area. One of the abandoned Jagdtigers ended up to be one of the last Jagdtigers alive (former Aberdeen now Fort Benning/ Georgia). Anothere Jagdtiger that didn't make it was left close to the town of Haßloch and parts were scavaged to build a childrens caroussel.
I am looking for more information on this specific incident or people that have knowledge of other "curious" incidents from this timeframe and area.

Thank you in advance
