Feldpostnummer 37718 A in 1940?

Post by kim.dehn » 23 Aug 2022 19:29

I am a collector of german feldpost.
I have a brief with briefstempel nr. 37718 A.
My problem is, that the tarn/stummestempel are from 26.6.40.
Regarding to the overwiev 37718 first are used in 1941:
(28.2.1941-29.7.1941) Stab u. 1.-4. Kompanie Polizei-Bataillon 45

Can one of You help me with a explanation?

Best regards

I'm sure this issue was already discussed on the Forum, but I can't find it.
As far as I remember dates do not show when exactly FPN was used, but when it appeared for the first and the last time on printed FPN lists. So it was quite common that FPN was already used for a while before that was confirmed in official FPN publication.
You can get pretty damn far in life by just saying what you're going to do and then doing it.
