'Schematische Kriegsgliederung' for 1940?

Post by jpz4 » 03 Jun 2022 11:26

Hello, I'm looking for the 'Schematische Kriegsgliederung der deutschen Wehrmacht' for 1940.

There are websites which have those of 10 May and 25 June, but I'm trying to figure out where the rest of the year can be found. Any ideas? Preferably a NARA microfilm, but I'm of course open to alternatives.

I'm currently looking into the German advance into France and its occupation following the Armistice, but 1940 is not my usual field of interest and I'm struggling to find sufficient records and/or Lagekarten to understand who was where, when. Any suggestions on such sources would be very much appreciated! So far it has been a complicated task of connection the dots, with a lot of dots missing

And yes, this is very much related to this post, which is in the 'WW2 in Western Europe & the Atlantic' subforum: viewtopic.php?f=54&t=255235&p=2323038
I've since gone the route of checking army, corps and division records, but I still encounter blank spots, which is why I'm giving it another try here

Thank you for the suggestion.

Unfortunately that's not a 'Schematische Kriegsgliederung', which is just a basic (graphic) overview of Heeresgruppen down to division level.
Looks something like this: https://www.weltkrieg2.de/wehrmacht-kri ... tand-1940/
(I'll try to update this post with an example later)

Yep, like that. Hadn't seen the 21.12.40 document yet, so that's part of the gap filled  Thanks!

The answer to my original question seems to be T78 R340 and/or T78 R710 BTW, but neither roll has not been digitized

FWIW, I just placed the order to get R710 partially digitized.

Really appreciated the suggestion Mark. It's not a period I'm familiar with so I don't really know what's out there

Dear jpz4

This may help

Schematische Kriegsgliederung, RH 2. Has also been published in Kurt Mehner's Geheime Tagesberichte der OKW, 12 vols.
Exists in full, for the period 8.6.40 - 31.12.43, and partly for 15.4.44 - 7.5.45

Excellent links! Thanks a lot.
I noticed some Kriegsgliederungen are missing, but most seem to be there.

Dear jpz4

I am happy to have helped

please note the link above that I supplied with the .de [country] change it to .eu. Exactly as below.

http://www.diedeutschewehrmacht.eu/Kriegsgliederung.htm

For further information about that site, the owner still exists and is on the forum-der-wehrmacht.de.

I have corresponded with Jan a number of times and is a good guy. He goes under the moniker of Endzeit-Jan

The reason why you need to use the http://www.diedeutschewehrmacht.eu instead of the .de is because certain links do not work.

Under the .eu they do.

If you wish to get quite serious you can use the Internet Archive https://archive.org to go back in time in order to
access/download the missing links

For example the SS and Axis Units are available, you just have to go back to an earlier date to find them

https://web.archive.org/web/20040327113 ... rmacht.de/ that will get you the SS

https://web.archive.org/web/20050202201 ... rmacht.de/ that will get you the Axis Divisions

The original link for the OOB re: Armee was 'schematische Kriegsgliederungen' on that site

This is what the site stated on the 28/3/2004

28 3 2004.JPG

This is what the site stated on the 5/03/2005. The Axis Divisions have been added. They can be found in Verbündete

'schematische Kriegsgliederungen' has been changed to 'Kriegsgliederungen/Order of Battle'

5 3 2005.JPG

I hope this makes sense. I hope this helps you
