Major regional Casualty Hospitals - Kiev area Sep 1941

Post by Peter » 20 Dec 2021 19:02

Please can anybody advise the location and identity and location of major German casualty hospitals around Kiev in September 1941, I am trying to identify the places where critically injured soldiers would have been treated before they were sufficiently stable to be flown or evacuated by railway to hospitals in the Reich.
thank you for your help

To use the correct terminology - it seems that I am trying to ID the various Kriegslazarett in the Kiev area. I know that Luftwaffe Kriegslazarett 3/III formed in Mar-Apr 1942 in the Kiev area and that Heer Kriegslaz 4/607 was close to Kiev in Sep 1941 at Biala Cerkow (Bila Tserkva) with Kriegslaz 4/531 at Smolensk.

I believe that the casualties were evacuated to Res.Lazarett back in Germany (correlation with Wehrkreis numbers ?)

Res Laz I & II Königsberg
Res Laz III Stettin
Res Laz IV Leipzig & Dresden
Res Laz V Hamburg-Wandsbek

I also note a Res Laz 101 Berlin-Charlottenburg

From files of Gefreiter Baum (IR.278), September 1941:

24.09 - Feldlazarett 195 mot. Kiew
27.09 - Leichtkranken-Kriegslazarett 3/541 mot. Kiew
29.09 - Feldlazarett 642 Kiew
