Grenadier-Regiment 568

I just learned that my maternal grand father served in II./Grenadier-Regiment 568 when he fell on 22nd, June, 1944. Unfortunately the information available about this unit (Lexikon der Wehrmacht) is very sparse. Does anybody here has some more information about this unit, it's service in Ukraine (Blazenik and Kowel) in the summer of 1944 and the way it was raised?

In mid-June 1944, Grenadier-Regiment 568 was stationed around Verba, Volyn Oblast, 9km north of Volodymyr-Volynsky.
In that period it was involved in attempts to stop Soviets creating a bridgehead over Turiya river in Blazhenyk, Volyn Oblast.

Its adversary was Soviet 4th Rifle Division (rifle regiment 220). Daily diaries for these units are available at https://pamyat-naroda.ru.

On 21 June 1941 Soviet 220 Rifle Regiment/4 Rifle Division captured a small bridgehead in a sector of the 214 German Infantry Division. On 22 June a German counterattack on the bridgehead followed, which was generally unsuccessful and was repulsed. According to prisoners captured on that day 568 Regiment, which was transported on trucks to the front during the night 21/22.6.44, took part in this counterattack.
It was a local fighting on a generally quiet sector of the front.
