He-115 found in Norway

He-115 found in Norway

In the Hafrsfjord outside Stavanger which was once called Sola-See, a rather intact He-115 was discovered a few months ago.
The plane belonged to Küstenfliegergruppe 906, and sunk after a landing accident 28 Dec. 1942.

Yesterday, 2 x 250Kilo bombs were removed from the plane and blown up. Now they just need to find someone who wants to pay for the rising.......

Wow! That's seems a big explosion for two 250 kg bombs.....

The water was only 5 meters deep where they blew up the bombs. the plane itself lies on approx. 50 meters.
Guess they wanted some action :wink:

Regarding the size of the explosion, You must consider not just the 2x250kg bombs, but the added explosives used by the ordinance disposal team to blow them....

Although this thread is 16 years old, it should be noted that the He 115 that was found in Hafrsfjord was retrieved in June 2012 and photos of the aircraft at the Flyhistorisk Museum in Sola are available at these links:
