Hi Folks!
I have been trying to order some NARA A3345-B rolls online from NARA but somehow they are not listed in the online catalogue, so I would like to ask if someone here on this excellent forum knows how to order rolls which are not cataloged?
Best regards
PK

You can order any rolls from intermediaries. It is faster and cheaper!

Most rolls can be ordered straight from NARA. It's convenient, fairly reliable, and offers a wide choice.
It is not clear how "intermediaries" work, but Albert may know more. What I have seen so far, for A3343/A3356 type of rolls, is DHA does not want to supply them. They have an agreement with another researcher, whose reputation is questionable. I have seen a lof of copies which were merely pictures of microfilm reader's screen, instead of proper scan. It's really amateurish.
Finaly the other source for these documents is BAMA in Germany. That's were the originals are. Quality of copies is naturally better (if nothing because it's color instead of black and white) but I haven't checked price.

The price in archives in Germany is prohibitive.
600 euros for 1-2 rolls!
Some intermediaries in Germany charge 200 euros per hour.
The quality is good (photo from the original!)

What intermediaries did you have in mind then?smetanin albert wrote: ↑27 Jan 2020 09:57The price in archives in Germany is prohibitive.

200 EUR/h (or more than 300 000 EUR/year) is so high they can't have many customers. I have seen employees from private firms spend a week in NARA to make the copies they needed at a much lower cost than these intermediaries. It's really for naive people.
