Adolph Galland in Norway
Hi All.
I've been a reader of this forum for many years; but this is my first time for posting. I have come into the temporary possession of a personal photo album of a Luftwaffe officer, via his relatives, now in Canada.
This album has been sat in an attic for 70 odd years and no other historians or experts have viewed it.
From what I understand he was taken to Canada after the war as a POW and settled there in Northern Ontario. This album has been passed down, and the current owner has asked if I can shed any light on the images. My first though was this forum.
I believe he was based in Stravanger, Norway. He was a keen photographer and I've been told there are more albums...Most of the pictures are personal; photos of people, faces and places. I have dug out all of the best military ones I could. What would be great is if we could ascertain what unit he was in, and extract some more information from his images that my untrained eye can't see. He wrote on the back of almost every photo; however I and my German friend can not read it!
His family name was Wolter. That's pretty much all I know. I know he served his time in the Reich Arbeits-Deinst.

The biggest challenge to date has been understanding the handwriting.
Even my German friend can't make it out...

Hi Chopper Harris,
Thanks for posting these photos. I think you have something very special there.
I can give you most of the captions, his handwriting is a bit sloppy, for sure.
He must be definitely a member of the Airforce and obviously took part in "Unternehmen Weserübung",
the occupation of Norway in April 1940.

BTW, Galland´s first name is Adolf only with an "f" at the end. Maybe you can correct the headline.

This is absolutely fantastic, thanks guys!
I confess, I am having trouble figuring out how to amend the title, having spelt Galland's first name incorrectly; apologies.
