Stauffenberg's body

Post by paul.i.w » 26 Jun 2022 15:55

Hi

I was reading in 'An Honourable Defeat' by Anton Gill that Stauffenberg's body was interred in a cemetery near to he Bendlerblock, before being exhumed and cremated by the Nazis. Does anyone know where that cemetery was, and if it still exists?

Thanks

Paul

Alter St.-Matthäus-Kirchhof, Berlin-Schöneberg

The bodies were only buried there for a couple of days before Himmler ordered them to be exhumed and cremated.

There is still a memorial stone in the cemetery today.

You should also visit the Benderblock and the Plötzensee Prison memorial, including the execution shed.

Walk in the footsteps of history. The first time is always breathtaking.
