Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kanal

Post by beinbruch » 07 Apr 2021 08:13

Hello
I am trying to find out if all the bridges across Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kanal (now the Nord ostsee kanal) were blown up by the germans in 1945. Does anyone know if it was possible to cross in april 1945

Best wishes

Hello beinbruch,

probably this PDF file "Die Bauten des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals 1895-1995:
ein Beitrag zum 100jährigen Jubiläum aus industriearchäologischer Sicht
" is of some interest for you:

Link to the PDF file: https://www.ssoar.info/ssoar/bitstream/ ... 5-1995.pdf

Download size is about 6.4 MB
41 pages
The work was published by Herr Dirk J. Peters in the year 1994 (Deutsches Schiffahrtsarchiv)
Very interesting, with a lot of historic photo material in the work...

Good luck for your further researches..!
