Honestly, I've searched all, & it seems like the more I search, the more confused I become. I have one more XX Corps history PUB to go through, and will see what that has to say as far June 1945 locations. This last book doesn't have an index of table of contents, so I'll probably just make copies of the relevant pages, then highlight any & all locations I can find after they crossed into Austria. I could solve this issue quickly if I lived near NARA, as the 733rd F.A.'s Morning Reports are housed there. Each & every morning's report would note their current location. However, I hate to wait 6 months just to receive a reply, only to ask what I'm looking for. Then, another 6+ months for the requested copies to arrive. Ultimately, I may have to go that route, but for now it can't hurt to do some detective work on my own. Tomorrow I'll delve into Strengberg, & see what turns up around that area. I truly THANK everyone for all their very kind assistance, I really do appreciate it.

Strengberg has a quarter named Au.
But this village will be abandoned. It is in a flood area and faced several floodings. After 2002 great flood it was decided to give up Au. Most buildings are demolished now. Only a church and some houses are still there.

Re: How many towns in Austria named 'AU' ?
Hello Gentlemen, I sincerely hope everyone here is well, & of course continues to remain that way ! This quite belated Post is more of an addendum than a Query, as I am very pleased to report that I truly believe that I have finally determined the location of 'my' Town of 'Au' Austria ! As some of you here may have surmised, it was indeed extremely difficult in determining the exact 'Au' I was looking for ? I learned that there was / perhaps is more than one Town referred to as Au, & just to make it more fun, they all appeared to be in different Regions of Austria. So, naturally my primary mission was to determine which Area / Region the U.S. XX Corps ended up in at the very of the War. ( The XX Corps was the 733rd Field Artillery's 'parent unit' & overall Command. ) Well, after much searching & comparing map locations, I managed to deduce the U.S. XX Corps HQ's location, from which all their subordinate commands surrounded. In addition to all that map searching, I recently was fortunate enough to obtain a Book written by an XX Corps HQ Soldier who served as an Interpreter & Driver for some of the HQ Staff while in Austria. Talk about lucky !! He mentions numerous locations within what I later learned was in 'Upper Austria', in & around such locations as Volklabruck, St. Martin, Atter See, Kogl, Isareck, Lambach, along with a few others. So, armed with that information, it became much less difficult to pinpoint the relative location of Au. ( Perhaps the nearest Town was Lambach, just 8.8 KM South / Southeast of 'my' Au. )
Needless to say, I am extremely pleased to finally determine my 'starting point', yet much, much more needs to be done if I ever wish to determine the exact U.S. Army Medical Facility in which the Pistol was originally obtained. Although it indeed might prove an 'exercise in futility' so to speak, there simply must be some documentation pertaining to which Medical Units were based / stationed in that immediate are during the time period in question ? Also, I have narrowed down the time period substantially, as I now know that this particular event must have taken place during months of either May or June 1945. Well, that my Friends is my updated progress report, not that anyone's all too interested, but I felt I at least should mention it. THANK YOU to anyone who had assisted me in this difficult project, & hopefully I just might be able to report full success sometime in the near future ?
