Thought I shared this with you in this thread. A heavy piece, metal on Marmor, souvenir to the Batterie Chef of Artillerie Regiment 70, given to him in 1941.

Has anybody seen such item before?

In late January 1945, the coffins were placed aboard the cruiser Emden with full honors and draped in the flags of various regiments that fought at Tannenberg.

Another building nearby, but nowadays also gone, was the Neue Tannenbergkrug, a guesthouse. Here on a period postcard.

An interesting window, Maurice...was it part of the Tannenberg Memorial?

And thanks for sharing the post card of the Tannenbergkrug...I didn't know such a hotel existed but it does make sense, since I'm sure that the Tannenberg Memorial was a pilgrimage site.
