Re: The official AHF Third Reich culture quiz thread
To get this going: it was bought for 30.000 RM Adolf Hitler. Maybe it was a birthday present for Bormanns 40th birthday because now it is the former Bormann Villa in Pullach.

Probably not.Geoff Walden wrote:Is this sculpture in a location where it can be viewed by the public?

It seems to be in the grounds of The Federal Intelligence Service (BND)
Google translation:
The predecessor organization of the BND, the Gehlen Organization was established in 1947 on the site of Reichssiedlung Rudolf Hess and Hitler's headquarters located Siegfried. The Empire settlement was in the years from 1936 to 1938 as a residence for the party elite of the NSDAP built.
http://translate.google.com.au/translat ... 6bih%3D649Some of the buildings from the empire settlement can be seen from the Heilmannstraße from over the wall of the BND. The site is not accessible to the general public but, taking pictures is prohibited in the area of the BND.

John Heartfield (1891-1968), born Helmut Herzfeld, German communist artist, well-known for his photo montage work attacking capitalism and the Nazis. Escaped to Britain in 1938 but returned to the DDR in 1949. I assume the "H" on the photo is for Heartfield, but it might be something else.

One of his better known works: "Millions stand behind me" - implying (falsely) that Hitler was merely the hireling of the capitalists.

Quite right on all counts Adam.
The H does stand for Heartfield and is engraved into the headstone of his grave.

This is one of my favorites

Here is a Google Streetview picture of a church in Poland. At right, the same church before the war. (Seen from the other side, obviously - the church today can't be seen from this side because of postwar buildings.) Where is this church, and what is its connection to the cultural history of the Third Reich?

It's interesting that your poster describes Kolberg as "the apotheosis of Nazi cinema." The film is set during the Napoleonic wars and contains to my knowledge absolutely nothing that could be called "Nazi." Its political message is simply German patriotism.

Google Image search makes this game too easy, but I'll let someone else have a go.
