Hi,

I am hoping someone can help firstly with translating the name/rank and also where i might be able to find out more about this gentleman?

Rank, from the writing, appears to "Oberleutnant".

Thanks to both of you. I never considered this number to be a field post number I had assumed it was his ID number but this makes much more sense.
