Correct translation for Kultusministerium

Post by CNE503 » 13 Mar 2020 21:28

Hello,

Could someone help me on this one?
Horia Sima, leader of the Romanian fascist "Iron Guard" movement, was the "Kultusministerium" of the government Gigurtu, on July 4th, 1940.
What is the correct translation for "Kultusministerium": ministry of public instruction or ministry of cult and religion?

Thank you for your help.
Regards,

Hi,

I think you mean Kultusminister not Kultusministerium ?

According to primary Romanian sources, Horia Sima was Ministrul cultelor și artelor, during 4-8 of July 1940.
That would translate to Minister of religious affairs and arts (cultural affairs).

Dumitru Caracostea was Ministrul educației naționale, which translates to Minister for national education.

Again according to Romanian sources By the Law Decree no. 3209 of March 20, 1940, the Ministry of religious affairs and arts merged with the Ministry of national education, becoming the Ministry of national education, religious affairs and arts.
So it seems there was one ministry with two ministers.

Now, German Kultusministerium translates to Ministry of Education and the Arts (which usually also covers religious affairs).

I'm sorry to add another question but do you know how to translate exactly "Ministerul Inventarului Avuției Publice" in English?
Ministry of aeronautical production?
