Difficult to say if it's "Kalinin" or not, but if it is why would it be an abbreviation of "Kaliningrad"?

[I think it is "ß" and not "tz", as the "t" would have to look a bit shorter, and the "z" a bit longer]

Good objection, Ken, I guess because I wasn´t familiar with this former name of the city Twer.
Regarding "Geschieße" vs. "Geschütze", what does the front side of this photo present? guns/cannons or an active shooting/battle?
