Next “wierd” film is about a big boat
Maybe, 'Otoko-tachi no Yamato' ( 2005 ) ?

As I have already said not a “battleship” (film or ship).
And Yamato wasn’t that wierd in my opinion. No, I’m speaking of a big “under water boat”. Interior picture:

"Das Boot" (1981) (Two screenshots from the movie on DVD)

The so-called "Kugelschott" in the background identifies the submarine as a german WW 2 U-Boot.

Translation for Kugelschott:

"Round, pressure-resistant closure in the pressure-resistant transverse walls between two compartments of the boat"
Source: https://www.modellskipper.de/Maritimes/ ... ugelschott

The person under the wool blanket..., hard to say, I do not remember this scene exactly ? :?
Probably Obermaschinist Johann („Das Gespenst“)

Yes, supposedly a german “foreign” boat design in foreign hands. But not “Das Boot” or german for that matter.

Image of captain and officers examining the boat design.

The fictional history of the German submarine U-234 ? :?

German / Austrian / USA / Japan Co-production from the year 1993.

Das letzte U-Boot (1993) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Das_letzte_U-Boot

If not, then I'm afraid I give up...

Alas, Hans has given up (or has he?). Fiction is correct but sorry not that (U-234) last uboat.
Here’s another image from the film… a pilot perhaps?

Waleed,

there you have thrown another, and hard to crack nut into the forum... :D (Again...)

Is it perhaps a feature film about the Japanese U-Boot Serie I-400.
I-400-Klasse https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-400-Klasse

I personally unfortunately do not know of any feature film in which these boats have played a role, has escaped me somewhat ?

Thanks for the tough nut!

Underwater greetings !

But you also make it difficult, the "Loreley" is only 25 kilometers from here, but unfortunately I can't find an exact connection.

Yes and yes to Mark. It is the Japanese “Lorelei: The Witch of the Pacific Ocean”, a sci-fi’ish manga inspired what-if sort of wierd movie. The boat - I-507 looks alot like the submarine Surcouf (the french connection) and also has a “Kaiten” and a very secret weapon… a girl better than sonar interacting with the sub. Wierd sort of intertaining movie.
