Thanks, but are there Herbert Landrock KIA on 17.9.44 recorded in Volksbund Archive or on another website?

uhm... I did some researches and probably is 17.9.43 because on that day were stopped four german attacks on Hill 424 at Altavilla Silentina, the only Altavilla in North Italy is near Vicenza and Gotenstellung was in 1944 south of this town.... so perhaps 1943.

Keep in mind that not all datas/cases are allready in the Volksbund database which is online. I know hundreds of cases from cemeteries and newspapers of the time with fatalities which aren´t mentioned yet.

Yes it's true, but I think is there a chance to search him on Volksbund online Archive ?

Probably he was recovered and buried with a name... but it's also true that many were never found or buried as unknown. All attempts to find him are appreciated

It seems you didn´t get my message. Even when is was burried by fellow soldiers and identified it doesn´t mean that he must be in the Volksbund Online Archive.
From the Volksbund Grave search site:
Note
Data collection is not yet complete. In the next few years, approx. 500.000 more names will be included in the database. If the person sought is not yet recorded, you have the option of filling out a search form.
