Hi guys,
Back to post 4162, let me put my 2 cents.
No doubt it is Commer but it definitely isn't Q4 as already mentioned. However, I cannot agree it is also Q2 (30 cwt). The civilian 1,5-ton Superpoise has dual rear wheels, the same for the early Q2 which actually is civilian truck militarized with Bronze Green paint.
I think on the picture is the smallest member of Superpoise family, namely 15 cwt with military designation Q15.

How in the world did this happen? :o :lol:
I'll try to explain you, Max. :wink:
IMHO this is the result of a coincidence of errors, most important of which are:
1. The trucks weren't secured on the platforms at all or weren't secured properly with chocks and crossed tie ropes;
2. Those who composed the train didn't tension some, most, or all couplers properly, being lazy enough to wind the shackle screws;
3. The engineer, unexperienced probably or under time pressure, performed "flying start" instead of starting with crawl speed to tension the couplers thus causing a sharp pull as a chain reaction throughout the whole train with unwanted forces build-up on the last platforms mostly. IMHO that's why the last White jumped from the train which was long enough to cause shock pull on the last cars.
Hope I was able to explain the event with my basic English!

Cheers!

Hi ilfil,
Thanks for your ID of the Commer, and entirely feasible explanation of the White lorry incident.
Cheers,
Max

Hi all
another picture of DAF M39 in German service. The Dutch MGs seem to be replaced by MG34.

Regards
Armin
