There were 2 versions of these 256B heavy ambulances and the one on the picture is late war production, 318 of which were built in 1944-45 period mostly for export in Yugoslavia, Hungary and Rumania. On the colour picture of Bert is the postwar version produced up to 1948.

The body is by the coachbuilder Josef Sodomka of Vysoke Myto, on model 256 diesel-engined 2,5-ton chassis by Skoda Werk Mlada Boleslav, then part of Reichswerke Hermann Göring.
