Distribution of British Army - September 1944

Post by Tom from Cornwall » 24 Mar 2021 16:46

On another thread there was some discussion about the size of the resources that the British themselves (rather than British empire and dominions) committed to the war against Japan and I came across these figures which I thought might be of interest for British army manpower for September 1944 in Jonathon Fennell’s “Fighting the People’s War, p.617:
NW Europe - 714,135
CMF (mainly Italy) - 499,207
India & SE Asia Command - 242,584
He references John Peaty’s thesis on British army manpower.
