Post by Texas Jäger » 09 Oct 2020 10:01

i saw there wasnt a thread on this: photographs of goumiers in particular in the actual war seem somewhat rare, i can find roughly the same dozen or so photos online whenever i search for them. if anyone has pictures they would like to share it would be much appreciated

Good afternoon Texas Jäger,

picking up your term "Goumier", which was new to me personally, I came up across this:

Moroccan Goumier: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moroccan_Goumier

Photo gallery: https://www.google.com/search?q=Goumier ... 60&bih=759

* "Negertruppen" was one of the common german terms for afro-american soldiers in the second world war, the attached photo
was described as "Negertruppen"

Hello Texas Jäger,
Try by Google images while introducing the following terms:
Troupes coloniales françaises
By this search engine you will found plenty of pictures.
And here below a picture of an morrocan Goumier while serving in the French Army during WWII in Italy

The most famous photo is the photo of the black GI, giving some candy(?) to german children,
the photo is pure history, but I do not know the story behind this photograph?

For sure, there is a story behind the photo...

P.S. I was wrong, the two photos do not belong in this thread, sorry.
