French Tank Brigades 1940
Does anyone have a list of the locations of the French Tank Brigades of the North East (TONE) for 10th June 1940 please?
Kind regards,
David.

Hi David,
May I mention you are asking for two items ? One is a lot of work -- the development of the French tank unit order of battle for that specific date.
Looking up locations is not too difficult if the units are identified; I can help with the locations.
David Lehmann wrote this document on armored units in 1940. Scanning it, it seems that by identifying where the divisions were, it may also give some idea as to the locations of the subordinate tank units.

Re: French Tank Brigades 1940
Hello
this serie-500 unit has nothing to with "Brigades" but the regimental GBC - Groupes de Bataillons de Chars - replacing the regiments in september 1939
the Tanks Brigades are the Brigades Cuirassées and were disbanded in january 1940

Hi Loic.
OK. That's really confusing, as they appear here...

Group of tank Battalions might be a better name than brigades.

Hi David,
Regrets if I sound like I'm sandbagging you. I had thought these units were organically part of a division or a corps. Finding their locations will be more challenging, I fear.
However: if you can read French, there is a good resource here.
http://atf40.fr/ATF40/index.html
- At that page, press the button called "unités" (the image of the eagle at the top of the page)
- click where it is written "NOUVEAU : Les unités blindées Françaises"
- then click on the link "Groupes de Bataillons de chars ( GBC )"
On that page, one sees the individual battalions that made up each GBC.
Armed with that information, proceed to --> http://www.chars-francais.net/2015/inde ... s-journaux
at which there are links to some of the battalion histories. You likely will not find all of what you are looking for there, but you will probably find some of what you seek.

That was long winded, but ultimately very helpful. So many thanks.
