The Poles in France

Post by Viktor.S » 17 May 2020 15:54

Hello everyone,

I have some questions about Polish nationals and Polish resistance in France during the war. Hopefully someone can help.

>I note that there was a Polish lyceé in Villard-de-Lans which was still in operation during July 1944, when an uprising by the students and staff was staged. Did Vichy France generally tolerate the presence of Polish nationals and organisations (like this school) in it's territory, or was this an exception?

>Are there any estimates for the number of Poles who served in French resistance cells (rather than in Polish underground groups in France)?

>Are there any estimates for the number of Polish workers imported to France by the occupation authorities, and if so, any breakdown by industries?

Thanks.
