TOE of French units in 1940 needed!

Post by Harri » 02 May 2003 13:17

I'm looking also for accurate info (TOE) on typical French units in 1940. Is there any good sites? I would like to know the following:
- infantry and motorized/mechanized infantry division, regiment, battalion, company
- armoured division, regiment, battalion, squadron/company
- reconnaissance battalion, squadron/company
- AA battalion, battery
- AT battalion, company
- artillery battalion, battery

Thanks in advance!

You could try

http://france1940.free.fr/en_index.html#Army

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lepoilu/ww2/ww2intro.htm

I have been told that there is a book by Tarnstrom which includes information on the French army in WW2 but I don't know anty more details.

If you cannot find what you want here (also on Rumanian anf Hungarian armies) or cannot get hold of the suggested books please advise, I may be able to copy some details over for you .

Yeh, very good one. That's what I wanted too, even the original French names of the units and commanders are mentioned. Thanks!
